Well hi there! It’s been a little while…I hope that you are enjoying this Christmas season!
Since our last post, we’ve harvested the last of the garden’s produce. This year’s garden felt a little off to be honest but once we started harvesting and thinking about all we’ve been able to do with this year’s produce we were surprised at just how fruitful it was! We ate salad greens until we were tired of them. Grandma showed us some new ways to use the green tomatoes we had & we really enjoyed those. One of our favorite things was making a pizza using seasoned cream cheese as the sauce and then layering on some sliced green tomatoes & covering the whole thing in shredded cheese! Yum! We got a pretty good harvest of sweet potatoes that we’ve been enjoying too.
As the holidays drew closer we decorated early as usual & pulled out the Christmas music as early as possible. We spent Thanksgiving with Mom’s side of the family this year. It was a good day but it was also hard knowing that Thanksgiving was a holiday that Grandpa really enjoyed & he wasn’t there…
Grandma also brought some supplies for a couple of simple crafts once we finished eating. Grandpa was always willing to help her with whatever was necessary for the Thanksgiving crafts (even if that meant dismantling ceiling fans around their house 😆). So it’s only fitting that this year’s craft supplies used the leftover stones from his memorial service & his old reading glasses to make snowmen…If he only knew…I can assure you that he’d roll his eyes & have a tickled expression on his face expecting nothing less.
We then celebrated Thanksmas with Dad’s side of the family. We made some of our favorite meals from both Thanksgiving & Christmas, shared stories, & watched some Christmas movies.
Since then, we’ve been savoring the season. Resting while listening to Christmas music & watching Christmas movies. We’re finishing up the last of the Christmas shopping, gearing up to bake cookies, & wrap all the presents.
Sometimes I’m amazed at how fast this season has gone. Other times I’m excited because we still have a little over a week until the big day. Then we’ll say goodbye to 2023 & hello to 2024 & all the new opportunities that await us in the new year.
We want to wish you & your family a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
Until next time,
Bailey Sue
Merry Christmas to you and your entire family!
