Growth on the Homestead

Green Leaves Poking through the Ground

FRESH EGGS! The past couple of weeks have been warmer and there’s been a LOT of sunshine! As a result, we’re getting about 3-4 fresh eggs a day! For the last couple of months, we haven’t got any. We *finally* have enough eggs to have a meal with them! So, tonight we’re going to be making some sort of breakfast-y food!

Breakfast pizza using waffles as the crust…

Although the official start of Spring is more than a week away there have been a lot of little signs that Spring is just around the corner! There’s the uptick in egg production and the abundant sunshine! The sky has that bright, Spring look to it and we’re supposed to be in the 60’s next week!!

Most of the things that we plant serve a dual purpose–they look nice but also produce food. We had a few flowers and pretty things planted in the front flower bed last year but they ended up getting uprooted by some stray animals. However, we’re pretty sure that we have one survivor because there’s just a little bit of green popping up!!

The seasons aren’t the only thing changing around here…

If you read my post on Tuesday, then you know that I’ve been working on ways to be healthier in all areas of my life. This has been and will be an ongoing process. But it’s really an interesting one…

I’ve been continuing to work on the website. Making sure that what gets posted is well thought out, helpful, and that you as the reader have a good experience each time you “visit”. I’ve been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes organizing. So, I’ve been reading a lot of my old posts and there’s a lot that I’ve learned…

Sometimes I feel like I’m constantly complaining about 2020. But the truth is that for our family it really wasn’t a bad year. Did it have its challenges? Yeah, just like every other year we’re blessed to walk this planet. I think for me, 2020 shook me from a life of consistency and that was hard but SO very necessary!

As a result, I’m realizing that there’s a little more meaning behind what I say now. I wrote a lot about waiting, faith, and trust in God. While the words that I said were and still are true, I feel like now–now that I’ve walked through 2020–what I said 3, 4, or even 5(!?) years ago is a little more applicable and makes a little more sense than it did when I wrote it.

Until next time,

Bailey Sue
