With this past weekend being Daylight Savings Time I’m reminded that we’ve gone through SO many changes in the last month or so. We’ve had changes in weather and changes in time. Changes to the living room, sunroom, and kitchen furniture, and changes on the homestead.
We’ve changed the way some of our fencing is laid out to give the chickens more room to range. Some of the feed is stored differently, and we’ve added a couple of new kinds of bedding. Here lately we’ve even let the chickens into the garden to help spread the compost inside the garden beds.
Change is one of those things that makes me uncomfortable. I like and thrive on predictability. I like to know what’s next so that I can prepare.
“For I am the LORD, I do not change” ~Malachi 3:6
Something that is comforting to me when I’m feeling a little discombobulated by all of life’s changes is that God is the same. His love, His mercy, His grace, and His guiding hand stay the same. God is still God. He is still good and still working things out in my life. He is still actively pursuing me.
We can not avoid change, but we can take comfort in knowing that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
Until next time,
