Merry Christmas in July! πŸŽ„

When we get to the end of July/first of August I start really wanting Fall. I long for the days when I can go outside and not immediately break out into a sweat. I look forward to soup season, a fire in the fireplace, & wearing comfy sweaters. But more than that, I look forward to the Christmas Season.

Christmas is a special time of the year. It’s the one time of the year the entire world pauses to remember Jesus, His birth, and the hope that humanity has because of Him. It’s a time of “Love, joy, and peace”, family and friends. Of gathering together, acknowledging the hardships but seeing the blessings of the last year. And looking forward with hope for the year ahead.

I thought with all the talk of Christmas in July it’d be fun to do a little throwback if you will and share a few of the Christmas oldies but goodies…I’ve gone through nearly every old Christmas post I’ve written and selected a few of my very favorites to share with you!

When it comes to Christmas our family always starts early! For us, Christmas is more than December 24-25th. It’s the entire season. Really September thru the first week of January. So we decorate in the middle of November!

“Come on, Christmas!” Christmas has a way of making the ordinary, extraordinary. The lights sparkle, the cookies taste sweeter, & we linger long after dinner laughing & sharing stories!

Christmas reminds us of family, tradition, & days gone by. We remember the laughter, the warmth, & the special people we are blessed to spend time with!

In our house, Christmas is full of family & food. We always bake lots of cookies and a few pies. Planning the Christmas Dinner is truly a family affair. Everyone gathers around and we all suggest what foods we want to make & what foods from the garden we want to include and then narrow it down to something that’s actually attainable. Then we write it out in festive ink!

And let’s be honest shall we? Christmas isn’t quite Christmas unless you watch a few of the classics. I love Christmas movies. Yes, they are quite predictable. But they are also funny, festive, & remind us that miracles can & do happen. A few years ago I put together a couple of lists. 12 movies & snacks of Christmas. Volume 1 & Volume 2.

Christmas is exactly five months away!

I know that there’s a LOT of life left to live between now and December 25th! The garden needs some more work, preserving season is knocking on the door, & school is getting ready to start. But if there’s one thing I want from this Christmas season it’s to enjoy everything. I don’t want to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of the season I want to approach this time with peace & gratitude. Embracing the moments as they happen & having the faith to expect those Christmas miracles!

Merry Christmas in July, everyone!

Until next time,
Bailey Sue
