One of the things that I have noticed here lately is the mindset that I have toward each and every weekend. And how it may not be the right one…
See, I tend to think that if I work really hard during the week and get all the dishes clean, laundry caught up, and chores done then come Saturday I’m done. Sure we may work on some other projects around the house and outside but the regular chores are done until Monday. But that doesn’t exactly work, does it? Because come Monday the laundry is the size of a small mountain and no one can cook anything in the kitchen because there’s no room in the sink for the dirty dishes because we didn’t re-load the dishwasher…
But if we spend just a few minutes a day when necessary doing a load or two of laundry and unloading and re-loading the dishwasher we can start the week with a clean house and less Monday stress. We can just dive right in to what we need to do that day instead of spending 2 hours cleaning the kitchen and stressing all day about where all the hangers are (seriously though, does anyone else have hangers disappear out of thin air?).
As I was thinking about all of this I realized that the same can be said of our Spiritual lives…
“But He answered and said, ‘It is written ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ‘”
Matthew 4:4
If we go a week or two without spending time with Jesus each day through prayer and Bible study then it seems harder to get into it and it takes a little longer to get back to where we were. But here’s the thing. If we were just to spend a few minutes a day seeking Him in prayer and studying His word then maybe we’d notice that our lives are just a little easier to handle, filled with just a little more peace, and a lot less guilt…
In the busyness of the weekend and Summer ahead don’t forget to spend just a few minutes alone with Jesus each day…He loves you and is patiently waiting to hear from you!
Until next time,
Bailey Sue
