We’ve been really busy the past month or so…This past weekend though, was a little slower. Dad had Friday off. We ran quite a few errands and got the fireplace inspected and cleaned so it’s good to go for the season! That’s actually perfect timing because it’s supposed to get colder this weekend!! Not quite cold enough for a fire but it’s almost time!! 😁
On Sunday I celebrated my 25th birthday!! The day started with Church, and a few birthday wishes from long-time friends. After Church, we came home and had a quick lunch and then took our customary Sunday afternoon nap.
Then the fun really began!
As per tradition, I chose to make my own meal and cake. I made Pasta Carbonara, salad, and a Peanut Butter Cake with Chocolate Frosting. Adding a chunked chicken breast to the Carbonara to make sure that there was enough protein in addition to the bacon…I was a little worried that it’d end up being too dry but it turned out perfectly!! 😁
I opened a few gifts from my family including a Punch Needle Kit (similar one here), I had been looking at, a new Fall Apron (similar here), and a shirt that perfectly describes my life (similar shirts here)!
When I made my Peanut Butter Cake, I used our family’s new favorite Gooseberry Patch cookbook, “Sunday Dinner at Grandma’s“. I followed the recipe but the cake came out a little more dense than we were expecting. More like a brownie or fudge than cake. After some thought, I realized that the recipe called for “self-rising flour” and I used all-purpose…That explains why they included instructions on how to make self-rising flour with all-purpose flour…Lesson Learned!
JoJo wanted to frost the cake, and I was happy to turn that job over to her as I don’t have the patience to make it fancy. So I made a batch of the Peanut Butter Frosting included in the “Sunday Dinner at Grandma’s” cookbook and a double batch of Chocolate Frosting! Look how cute it came out!!
Throughout the day I’d receive birthday text messages, Facebook posts, and phone calls. I’m so thankful to each and every one of you who wished me a happy birthday! It really made me feel loved and cared for-so thank you!
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…”
Until next time,
