For most people turning 21 is a HUGE deal. They are finally a full-fledged adult. However, celebrating my 21st birthday is huge for a different reason. Turning 21 is a reminder of God’s grace and love and glorious plan for my life. Although I have no memory of this, I was born a preemie—three months early to be exact (my original due date was December 23).
Weighing in at a whopping 1 pound 4 ¼ ounces I spent the first 92 days of life in the Neonatal Insensitive Care Unit (NICU). I easily could have died or been diagnosed with a life-changing disease. However, I have NO health issues attributed to being early. I am a normal 21-year-old female (who just happens to be very short…).
As l look back over the years that I have lived I can see how God has been at work shaping me into the woman I am today. Being homeschooled for the last five years of my educational career although challenging has given me the freedom, confidence, boldness, and passion to do what I am doing today. Blogging and owning my own business. To be honest I never saw myself doing this. But it is something that I love and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am very thankful for this life that I am able to live. The support and love of so many family and friends along the way and those who have sacrificed for this great nation that I call home. I am also thankful for the life that I have in Jesus. Without Him I really wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m thankful for His sacrificial death on the cross to forgive me of the sins that I commit daily. I am thankful for His resurrection and the hope that I have because of it. I am also thankful for the love and grace that He pours over me that I really don’t deserve.
I want to encourage you today. No matter your life story. You have a purpose. There is a reason why you are still breathing. Find it and use it to glorify your Heavenly Father. Look for and rejoice in the little itty bitty things that God places along your path. Trust in His timing and remember that God is NEVER EVER LATE. He’s right on time–His time. He is not surprised by anything that goes on in our lives and His plans are for our good. Hang on for the ride of your life. It’s usually not where you thought you’d be (or how you’d get there) but He knows us better than we know ourselves and he has the big picture in mind. Keep working faithfully in the little things knowing that He sees you. He sees your heart and loves you unconditionally. Let go and let God do what He does best: love and lead.
Until next time,
Bailey Sue
