This week marks America’s 242nd birthday! That means that there will be a lot of celebrations going on. People will be getting together, having picnics, making some really yummy food, enjoying fireworks and so much more!

We have a lot to celebrate being in America. There are so many freedoms to be thankful for! The ability to worship God how we each see fit, being able to vote for those who we deem the best fit for public office, the peaceful transition of power, etc, etc. The Founding Fathers drafted documents and wrote laws that have enabled us to have, maintain, and preserve these freedoms for hundreds of years. There have been millions of men and women willing to sacrifice time away from their families, the comforts of home, and even their very lives to protect the freedoms that America holds dear.

As we remember the freedoms that we have and the men and women who have died to protect them let’s also remember Jesus…

In John 10 Jesus tells us that “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (10:10).

Jesus is the good shepherd (John 10:11). He gave His very life so that we could be free in Him. Free from what you ask? Freedom from the world’s unattainable ideals, freedom from sin and bondage, freedom from worry, and freedom from the Devil’s grasp.

If we know and live our lives by the truth found in God’s Word nothing this world could ever throw at us will be able to keep us held back!

  • There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1).
  • NOTHING can EVER SEPARATE US from His love (Romans 8:38-39).
  • In Him, we have our worth (Proverbs 315, Matthew 10:29-33).
  • He died so that we could be with Him in Paradise (John 3:16, Luke 23:43).

This week as we remember the freedom of this great Nation let us also remember the freedom that Jesus gave us through His death, burial, and resurrection.

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
-John 8:32

Happy Independence Day!

Until next time,
