In The Middle Of It All…

In the middle of all the chaos and fear it’s hard to place our focus where it should be…

A few weeks ago I heard the song “Middle Man” by the Southern Gospel Quartet Legacy 5. I LOVE their newest album “Pure Love” but the song “Middle Man” is one of my favorites. Especially for times like these. When everything feels unsure and uncertain.

I find it interesting how this song seems to fit so perfectly with what’s going on in life right now. Sometimes it seems like God is SO far away. We question why. Why did a good God allow all this suffering? Where is He in times like this when everyone; literally everyone seems to be hurting?

Life suddenly turned upside down overnight leaving us with more questions than answers and lots of worries. It’s taken me days to process all of this and to finally start seeing the good. For a while it felt like the good was buried deep beneath the fear and uncertainty.

And then things started clicking…The Bible NEVER once promises that we’ll never face hard times, it promises that in the MIDDLE of those hard times God will be there! Verses that I’d spent my entire life reading suddenly took on a new meaning…

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
~Mathew 6:33

One of the verses that I love in this song is “In the middle of the waters there’s a Peace-Speaker calmin’ storms and calmin’ fears”

It reminds me of the story where Jesus calms the storm (Mark 4:35-41). Jesus was asleep in the boat and those with Him woke Him up and basically asked Him, “Do you not care about us?” He got up and calmed the storm instantly!

I know that many of you are struggling right now…I know that the good is hard to find. I know that you’re wondering when all of this chaos will end. But I want to remind you that God is STILL HERE. Right in the MIDDLE of it. He’s allowing us time to pause our ever-so-busy schedules and refocus on what’s truly important. He’s there providing what we need. Whether that’s an encouraging call or text from a friend or physical supplies.

We’re all in this together. I’ve heard this phrase more times than I can count the last few days. But it’s true. We are. Though we’re all different and being told to remain distant from one another we’re still in this together. We’re still helping each other, we’re still encouraging each other to keep on keeping on. Maybe in this struggle we’ll find that we are more alike than we are different.

Friends, God is here. He hasn’t abandoned us and He never sleeps (Psalm 121:3-4). He’s right in the MIDDLE of the chaos softly speaking peace to our souls, we just need to pause, really pause; to be able to hear Him.

Until next time,
Bailey Sue
