Yesterday was a very busy, but very good day! We had a lot to do in a short amount of time–so we got up and got to it!

Usually, on Fridays, we do the weekly cleaning. Since we had plans we tried to get most of that done earlier in the week. But having two dogs, two cats, and a homestead sweeping and dusting needs to be done at the last minute or else you can’t even tell you cleaned!

Thankfully that didn’t take too terribly long to do and we were able to get some Fall-themed baking done! I was able to try two new to us cookie recipes! A Pumpkin cookie that tastes like a Sugar cookie/Gingersnap/Pumpkin flavored deliciousness drizzled with glaze! The other apple cookie tastes like baked oatmeal in cookie form! Both delicious and both repeats!

Bottom= Apple Crisp Cookies (2nd book linked below)

After the baking was done, it was time to get dressed up for our Church’s Trunk-Or-Treat! Something that I had been praying that we’d get the opportunity to do and we did! It was SO much fun even though it ended early due to a nasty thunderstorm!

Our theme this year was easy, fun, and fairly cheap!

An Old Fashioned Christmas themed Trunk!

We pulled out the Christmas decorations for Halloween and it was SO MUCH FUN! The only thing we spent money on was the sparkly makeup. It wasn’t a necessity, but we will use it and it added the proper amount of elfish sparkle to my “costume”. A few years ago I found an elf dress at Walmart that I couldn’t pass up. So I wore that and JoJo did my makeup being sure to add plenty of extra sparkle. Mom and JoJo wore Christmas shirts from my upcoming collection launching November 2 and Dad wore a solid green t-shirt!

Thanks to Julie C. for getting this photo!
Look closely…The new shirts will be available in the shop November 2nd! (:

Decorating the trunk was easy and FREE using decorations we already had around the house!

The 4ft tree and homemade decorations that usually go in the Sunroom, a Christmas quilt that my Great-Aunt made, and the Santa and Mrs. Clause that we’ve had since before I was born. Adding a few stuffed animals, a strand of lighted garland, and some old-fashioned looking Christmas books the design was complete!

We took a couple of Christmas tins to put the candy in and placed those underneath the tree and played some Bing Crosby Christmas music from our phones. The portable battery that we keep on hand in case the power goes out worked well for plugging in all the lights and we hid the phone behind the books.

There had been a threat for storms all day but it looked like we may be able to pull it off but it was going to be close. So, we just kept the design confined to the back of the van that way if it did rain we could just close the trunk and go. Sadly we were only there about an hour before it started to storm and everyone started tearing down and packing up. Even though we weren’t there for long I still had a really great time! It felt so good to talk to and see people that we hadn’t in a long time! Thankfully, we made it home safe and sound despite the pouring rain, thunder and lightning!

I promise Dad was there too! He just wasn’t around when the camera was out!

And now to enjoy some quality family time this weekend! Watching the last of our Halloween movies, carving/painting pumpkins, and eating caramel apples!

Until next time,

Bailey Sue
