Messed Up People

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

~Romans 3:23-24

Something that I have noticed many times in reading the Bible is that God doesn’t leave out our mistakes. He redeems them. God uses EVERY ONE. He doesn’t pick and choose by society’s standards. He sees your heart and motives (see 1 Samuel 16:7 & Proverbs 16:7).

The Bible is full of messed-up people that followed God’s plan for their lives. Following God is rarely a  straight line. It’s a series of hills and valleys, twists and turns.

Moses was slow of speech (Exodus 4:10) and he led the Children of Israel to the Promised Land.

Rahab was a prostitute (Joshua 2 & Hebrews 11:31) and she was the Great Grandmother of David–one of the greatest kings in the Bible.

David had an affair and killed her husband so that he could marry her (2 Samuel 11) and he’s still considered a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22).

Paul; the man who wrote a majority of the New Testament; approved the killing of Stephen (Acts 8:1). And he even went around killing Jews (Acts 8:3). Paul is considered the “model Christian” if you will. He tells the church at Corinth to imitate him as he imitates Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).

I wanted to remind you that you are not alone in your struggles. Even when you want to do right but somehow keep doing wrong remember that even Paul had that very same struggle (Romans 7:15-20).

Remember that God has and will continue to use all people; not just those whom the world believes are worthy. You are worthy because of who God says that you are. He says that you are made in His image and bought with His precious blood.

You are not a mistake.

You are His masterpiece.

Until next time,
