Welcome to Friday! You’ve made it to the end of another week! I hope that it was a good one! Let’s dive right into this week’s blessings shall we?
1) Progress on the Pantry
A couple of weeks ago we decided to empty out our downstairs pantry and spruce it up a bit. Ripping out the old nasty cupboards, painting the walls, painting the floor, and adding a few more shelves to better organize everything. For a few days-especially when we were painting- the basement felt extremely claustrophobic…It turned into a bit of a maze. Thankfully the paint has dried and we’ve started moving everything back in! We should be done here in the next day or two and be able to move onto the next project!
2) An overabundance of STUFF
In light of the Memorial Day tornadoes and our many house projects it’s made us realize just how much stuff we have. As we’re reorganizing and fixing up the house we’re also going through our belongings and seeing what we no longer need or want…and either donating it or throwing it out. It’s amazing how blessed we are…
I think so often in our society we’re told that more is better. But I have to disagree, sometimes less is more. After all stuff doesn’t buy happiness. “Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it.” (Proverbs 15:16). Only God can give us the joy, peace, and happiness we seek.
3) The longest day
I actually forgot about this until I overheard Mom telling Dad last night on the phone! Today’s not only the official start of Summer it’s also the longest day of the year! According to the Weather App on my phone, we get exactly 15 hours of daylight! There’s two different things that come to mind about this:
1) It may be dark in your life now but know that the sun will rise again. You may be going through a storm where the rain is coming down in sheets and the sky is so black you can’t see a foot in front of you. KNOW THIS the sun will rise again. Clear Skies will come. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow but they’ll come. Let the length of today remind you of that.
“Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.”
~Psalm 30:5
2) Let’s make the most of it! I had an English teacher in the 5th grade that made the comment that if your parents rule was that you had to be home by dark you’d want to be out all day the first day of Summer because that’s when you’d get to be out all day! Remembering this made me really want to savor today and make the most of it. Tonight we’ve got some plans to work outside making stakes for the rest of our growing tomatoes–they’re starting to look like little bushes, grilling brats and just enjoying the evening! Do you have any plans to celebrate the arrival of Summer? Share away in the comments below!
What are some of the blessings that you’ve noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below! Have a great weekend!
Until next time,
Bailey Sue
