I don’t know about you, but I’m glad that it’s Friday! Although we have a busy weekend ahead I’m thankful for the break from work…and the fact that we have a busy weekend that will keep me from working on business stuff. Heaven knows we could all use a break…
Although we’ve been busy painting, reorganizing, and cleaning there’s still been an abundance of good things going on this week. Are you ready for a look at this week’s blessings?
1) Banter at Breakfast
Bradley’s been working about three days a week. Since he has to be there by 8 we usually get up and going pretty quickly and breakfast is rather subdued. Today was a little different though. He didn’t have to work and we sat down around the table and Bradley and JoJo start this comedic bantering, back and forth. We were all cracking up!
Growing up there was a pretty big age gap between me and them (3.5 and 5.5 years). They’re only a little more than 2 years apart. So by the time I started school they had hours and hours of time playing with just each other as a result they’re a lot closer. As we’ve gotten older that distance has lessened a little. JoJo and I now stay up late talking and we’re all starting to finally get along better. Now, don’t get me wrong. We DO have our arguments and there are still days that we’re at each other’s throats. But mostly we’re learning that we have more in common than we thought.
2) A week of being a hermit
I’ll admit that I am more of a people person than not. But there are days (or weeks) where I enjoy NOT having to leave the house. And this was one of those weeks. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed staying in! It’s been fun to not worry about having to be ready to leave the house by a certain time or get dressed in “real” clothes (that’s what I call clothes that I wear in public..you know jeans and such). I’ve had quite a few work days in my jammies which is also really nice and comfy!
3) A Look back…
Long story short we’re working to paint and spruce up our Basement and Sun Room. Some of this sprucing up requires reorganizing and boxing up several books and such. So, yesterday Mom, JoJo and I straightened up the attic. Going through our keepsake boxes, reorganizing them and getting rid of a few things but mostly reminiscing.
It was neat to see several of the items that have been kept all these years. Teeny tiny preemie clothes, hats and miniature shoes. Yearbooks, photos, journals and Bible notes. There were old awards, and school art projects, and lots of cards that Mom and/or I received when I was in the hospital. It was neat to read some the sweet notes from either family or family friends offering prayers or encouragement. It reminds me just how precious each of us are. How big God’s plan is for our lives and how random some things seem in the moment yet really they aren’t. It’s just the pieces coming together.
I recently attended a long-time friend’s wedding. As I was going through stuff yesterday I found this old drawing she gave me years ago. It gave all of us a good laugh so I sent it to her. Turns out neither of us know the story behind why she drew it but it gave her a good laugh too. (:
I think that it’s important to look back every once in a while. To see how far you’ve come, how far God has brought you. To remind yourself that He IS faithful. That prayers are answered and that His plan is coming together. One teeny tiny piece at a time.
What are some of the blessings that you’ve noticed in your life this past week? Why not share a few in the comments below! Have a great weekend! (:
Until next time,
Bailey Sue
