“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Congratulations, Friends, you’ve made it to the end of the first week of 2017!! How’d your week go? Mine was good, just trying to get into the swing of things. Here’s some of the little things that I’m thankful for this past week.
On Wednesday I wrote about 2017 being the year of No Excuses. Since I have the habit of creating excuses for everything, it has really helped having my Mom on board. If I start to make excuses she’ll remind me that 2017 is my year not to make excuses. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. If you’re having trouble sticking to your goals, try finding someone to keep you accountable. It could be your spouse, a neighbor, a friend, or your mom; trust me having someone to help keep you accountable makes a huge difference.
2. Falling down the stairs
Yes, you read that correctly. I know you’re probably thinking that I’m crazy for being thankful for falling and you’re probably right. But, I have a very good explanation. When I was about six I somersaulted down the stairs and have been terrified of stairs pretty much ever since. Once we moved here I knew that it was only a matter of time until I fell down the stairs. I kept worrying and waiting for that to happen. And last night I fell down the stairs. Now I don’t have to fear falling down them again. (I hope)…
3. Doing Fairly well keeping up with the Laundry
One of my chores is to do the family’s laundry. In all honesty it’s one of those chores that I don’t mind. I just have the habit of starting a load and completly forgetting about it. Or remembering it and creating an excuse to not switch it over… But this year I have tried to stay with it and not get so behind that there’s a gigantic pile that needs attention immediately because someone is running out of clothes. I’ve not done a stellar job thus far, but I am making progress. And that’s what matters right? Taking one step no matter how small in the right direction.
4. A good start to the year
Something that I have been realizing is that we as humans will never be perfect. That’s why God’s grace is so important. He through His blood sees us as perfect in His sight. This week has been good. Sure, there have been challenges. There always will be, but with the grace of God we can rise above them and become more like Him each day. That’s what this life is all about: bringing glory to God in all that we do and becoming more like Him each and every day.
I hope that you had a good week, noticing all the little things that God has placed in your path. I’d love for you to share some of your daily blessings below.
Until next time,
