This week has been busy. I’ve had good days and bad days. But today we started putting out our Christmas decorations and it’s time for another recap of this week’s blessings!
Monday was really good! I usually don’t like Mondays but I had a really good day! I was able to get everything done on my list and be prepared to work the polls on Tuesday.
Tuesday Daddy and I worked the polls.
We were up long before the sun at 4:15 AM and headed to our location. This election we had new machines and a new system for processing voters that made our jobs 20 times easier!! And we were back at our “home” location meaning that all of our people were there and we had our customary Election Day Chicken Dip. One of the ladies that we work with makes this Chicken Dip every election and it’s something that I look forward to happily! That stuff is amazing!! (:
I really enjoyed being able to talk with other poll workers amid processing voters. Every time I go I learn something new. The new system also made set up and tear down a lot easier too! The polls close at 7:30 and we were headed home about 8:00 (normally it was a minimum of 9:00 and if it was a Presidential election 10-10:30 was common)–and that was the first run through. Once we do it a few more times we’ll be done by 7:45 easy!
Wednesday was rough! We have henceforth decided that for everyone’s sanity I will not be doing anything that requires a lot of thought or decision making the day after an election. I don’t handle a lack of sleep well…something as simple as writing an email can lead to an emotional meltdown…So, I took Wednesday to process everything and just chill.
Then Thursday went MUCH BETTER!
I was able to get a few things done and the last of my art gallery supplies purchased! The Gallery opens Thursday night and stays on display until December 21st. If your in the Dayton area, know someone who is or plan to be traveling this way go check it out! You can find their hours, address, and more details about the gallery HERE!
Thursday also included a trip to Hobby Lobby. I don’t know about you but it’s nearly impossible for our family to “run” into Hobby Lobby and get whatever we need quickly. It’s at least 45 minutes. We’ve got to browse the Christmas decorations and dream a little and then everybody wants to look in a particular area and before we know it we’ve found three or four things we just “need” to have! I went in there needing to get ONE thing and came out with THREE! And by using my coupon all THREE items were on sale and everything cost less than $10! Not bad if I do say so myself. Does this happen to you in Hobby Lobby or another store? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
Today, we started putting out some of our Christmas Decorations!!
For some reason this year more than usual I’ve been feeling a little off about decorating early. Like I’m forgetting something or it’s just way too early. It’s almost like I fear what people will think about us decorating early…But you know what? Decorating early is something our family has done for YEARS. Long before all the Facebook memes about when it’s the “right time” to start decorating became popular.
And to be honest, I LOVE decorating early. It’s usually warmer out which makes putting the outdoor lights out much nicer. This year I foresee a little Tim Taylor/Doc Johnson friendly competition brewing…Turns out Bradley inherited Dad’s competitive streak…Decorating early means that by the time all the holiday hubbub starts you’ve already got one major thing crossed off your list; and I want to enjoy it! We’ve got a LOT of Christmas decorations and it takes us a solid 2 days to put everything out and I don’t want to rush this process. I want to be able to enjoy it! The process, the decorations, and the time spent with family and friends STRESS FREE or at least as stress free as I possibly can…I stress and overthink pretty much everything in life so usually the only time I’m not stressing is when I’m sleeping…maybe… When do you do your Christmas decorating? Let me know in the comments below!
What are some of the blessings that you’ve noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below! Have a great weekend!
Until next time,
