Our Daily Blessings! (:

Hello and happy Friday! I hope that ya’ll have had a great week! This week has been interesting: we’ve faced some minor inconveniences and had to adapt. I’ve been working hard on a new project that’s pretty close to completion (if the weather just cooperates) and so much more. So, let’s dive into some blessings. (Since I didn’t post anything last week I thought I’d add a couple of blessings from this week onto last week’s blessings!)

1) The Miter saw is finally operational!

Several weeks ago we bought a Miter saw to help with the wood cutting. It would give us more wood, save the backs of those using the chainsaw, and we’d be going through less chains. Earlier this week we set it up and used it. I’m not sure that it actually goes any faster but it sure feels like it!

2) Homemade chocolate donuts!!

Ya’ll we FINALLY got around to making some homemade donuts! This time we made glazed chocolate donuts and they were pretty good. We used Mom’s donut pan and baked them. That makes them a little healthier right??

3) 1 Year anniversary of Snapshots of Contentment!

One year ago this week I officially opened my little online shop Snapshots of Contentment! (as of 2020 this shop no longer exists). That year went by so fast! I’m thankful to have finally gotten back to photography and am looking forward to making several improvements soon! I hope that you’ll stay along on this journey with me.

4) Having 2 vehicles

The other day I was out practicing driving in the parking lot with Daddy and all of a sudden the van started steaming! Thankfully we were able to get home before we overheated and now have the part to fix it. But in the meantime we’ve had to take Daddy to work in the truck that way we could have a vehicle to do some of our daily errands. So, I’m thankful that we have two  vehicles. Even though it’s an inconvenience at times we are able to still get from point A to point B in a reliable vehicle.

5) Having living chickens!

Look how big they are!!

Last Saturday we finally bought 6 hens. It’s amazing how fast they’ve grown. Several of them are already developing their tail feathers! We’ve already had to clean out the tub that is their temporary home until they’re big enough to move into the coop. And we’ve managed to keep them alive for the last 6 days!! Whoop, whoop! This homesteading thing isn’t quite as challenging as I thought!

6) Our first family day!

Look how good that looks!

We recently decided to do something new. One Saturday a month we’re dedicating as “Family Day”. We’re going to spend that day together as a family doing a little something fun. We may explore a new museum, walk around an older part of town, eat at a new restaurant, or even work in the backyard. Just doing something together as a family.

Last Saturday was our first Family Day. We had a few errands that we couldn’t put off and once those were done we went to eat at a local diner similar to one that we love in Northern Ohio. Bradley started going there with the Fire Department and likes it pretty well so we all decided to give it a go!

It was really good! They have some of the best onion rings I’ve ever had. They’re nice and crispy so when you take a bite you get a nice ratio of beading and onion instead of just getting a little bit of breading and the entire onion. They also have good shakes too. I love that the entire place has a very nice 1950’s vibe too! After a nice lunch we then went to pick out our chickens!

I hope that ya’ll had a great week! What are some of the blessings that you’ve noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below! Have a great weekend!

Until next time,

Bailey Sue(:
