Welcome to your weekend I hope that you’ve had a great week! And that you were able to see some of the blessings that God’s given you along the way! Are you ready to take a look back and count them?
1) Mom’s New Cookbook
Mom got a Slow Cooker cookbook for her birthday a few months ago and recently pulled it out to try some new recipes. We haven’t tried very many yet but so far we love what we’ve tried! In fact, we’re making the Stroganoff found on page 135 again for dinner tonight with some leftover roast! If you’d like to get your own copy to try it for yourself you can do so right HERE.
2) Being close with my family
I’ve got to be honest, we’re a very close family. We often travel in pack format even through the food line at church. it’s not unusual to find us all going single file through the isles of the grocery store, oftentimes in matching camouflage coats. (That has come in handy for locating the wandering family member a time or two unless that wandering family member is in a hunting store or the hunting section of a given store..).
And something that we’ve come to notice in the past few months is just how much our schedules are intertwined.
We do pretty well adjusting to the change if Daddy’s working late but if he happens to take a vacation day or get home early on a given day all previous plans go out the window! If someone’s schedule changes say, for example, Bradley starts his clinical runs for EMT school, we all need to adjust. We’re up earlier, to bed later, and are planning some specific chores and house projects around his schedule.
We eat dinner together most nights (unless Bradley’s running or with his Study Buddies), breakfast together most Sunday Mornings, and have been known to unintentionally color coordinate or wear matching shirts on several occasions.
The closeness goes beyond traveling together and wearing matching coats. We help each other out. When I was going to school the entire family could be found helping me get photos, supplies at school, or doing my chores so that I could study. Now that Bradley’s in school we’ve picked up some of his chores, and are helping him study.
It may be weird to others but in all honesty, this is normal and I like it that way…after all, that’s what family’s do. They stick together and help each other out.
3) Gaining a new attitude?
This week has felt really off. Bradley’s starting his clinical runs for EMT school, I had a Bible study yesterday, and we had a couple of yearly physicals that needed done. Thankfully all’s well where that’s concerned but it’s left us feeling tired and out of sorts.
For some reason whenever I’m a little behind on laundry and try to get 3 or 4 loads done in a day all of our hangers have mysteriously disappeared. You can find me in a frantic frenzy trying to round up enough hangers to hang the last load or two. Today, we seem to have an abundance, I’m not 100% sure how we got there but hey, I’ll take it!
About every 6 months or so Mom gets a hankering to rearrange the furniture in the living room. Again. About 99% of the time I’m adamantly opposed to the idea. And Mom’s a 100% right. It was never as bad as I envisioned. That 1% that I wasn’t adamantly opposed to the idea was today.
So, I’m not quite sure if it’s a step away from delirium or if I’m learning to embrace the changes and find joy even when things don’t go according to plan. But either way, I’m kind of enjoying it!
What are some of the blessings that you’ve noticed in your life this past week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below! Have a great weekend!
Until next time,
Bailey Sue
