United States Airforce Thunderbirds

Soaring to New Heights! 🛬🛫

This past weekend was Airshow weekend! Nearly every Summer since I can remember our local area has hosted an airshow. More often than not the headlining act either falls to the Air Force Thunderbirds or the Navy Blue Angles. Sometimes, though not often, we’ll get both.

This year we had the Thunderbirds.

Whenever these planes fly for the airshow they have a really wide flight path. You can often see and hear them 30+ minutes away from the airport. We live really close to the airport and can get our own show from the backyard. It’s not quite the same as seeing them at the airshow but it’s still really good. So, every time we heard them overhead we stopped everything for 30-45 minutes, went outside and watched them fly overhead. Sometimes directly over the house, over the garden, or around the trees.

We’ve been really busy lately. Bradley’s running here and there doing ride time for Paramedic school, JoJo’s working, and I’m spending several hours a day upstairs in my office, working on chores, or running errands with the family. And I haven’t made it outside to simply sit and rest for several weeks, let alone walk through the garden. And I was starting to miss it.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
~Isaiah 40:31

Sitting out on the deck looking toward the sky and nothing on my to-list for 45 minutes; I noticed SO much. The apples growing on the trees, hummingbirds visiting the feeders, birds mimicking the planes, or simply flying around somehow not scared of the noise. I actually walked through the garden and saw small pumpkins, tiny squash, budding sunflowers, tomatoes on the vine, and tall corn leaves. God’s fingerprints were everywhere!

God knew that amid the busyness we all could use a little rest and He gave that to us in the form of the Airforce Thunderbirds. And even though I took a break in the middle of the day I was still able to finish projects and get the work done that needed done!

“Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
~Matthew 11:28-30

Until next time,
