Weekend Wrap-Up

This past weekend was really nice. We were able to get some much needed work done outside, rest, make some new memories, and of course eat pleanty of good food!

We planted flowers, cut down giant limbs with the help of our neighbor’s Bobcat, burned lots of leaves and twigs and finished painting the chicken coop. We still have a lot of work to do but we’ll get there…even if we have to take two steps forward and three steps back.

TIMBER!
“TIIIMMBER!!!”

Some of my favorite moments this weekend were almost winning a game of corn hole! Y’all I lost by ONE point! And that’s coming from the girl who throws a little dance party every time she catches something that was thrown to her.

The thing that really stuck out to me this weekend is what this holiday really means. It’s remembering all of those brave men and women who have DIED so that we could have the freedoms that we do. I know that I personally can get a little distracted by all the sweet homecoming videos, acts of bravery, and all of the prestige and strength that the military shows while FORGETTING the SACRIFICE that is required. These people WILLINGLY miss out on birthdays, holidays, weddings, their children’s births, and even the ordinary days that we take for granted. Many of them have given their very lives for the causes that America holds dear, protecting the freedom of complete strangers!

Memorial Day isn’t just the unofficial start of Summer. The day the pool opens, and a day to have a cookout. It’s a day to REMEMBER the SACRIFICE of MANY FOR OUR FREEDOM.

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Until next time,
