Act of Kindness Popcorn for Blog

Our Daily Blessings! (:

Welcome to your Friday! I hope that you’ve had a good week! This week has been really good. I’ve learned some lessons and been blessed in so many ways. Here’s a few blessings from this past week.

1) A nice Valentine’s Day

Usually I get really depressed and down around Valentine’s Day. This year was different though: I actually enjoyed it. We had to run to the store that afternoon to get some last minute things for our dinner. While walking through the store I couldn’t help but smile. I saw several older gentlemen walking around with flower bouquets. Ya’ll, it really is the small things. It just made me so happy to see these men getting flowers for their wives.

Later that afternoon we realized that we ran out of powered sugar and needed some for our cake. So, Mom and I ran to the store again. The first store we checked didn’t have any and as we were walking out this nice gentleman kindly held the door open for us as we left. We checked the store next door and they had some!! Once we payed for the sugar the cashier told us “Happy Valentine’s Day!” as we were leaving.

We then went home and finished making our dinner we made Swedish meatballs with egg noodles, salad, roasted carrots, and of course, chocolate cake with ice-cream! It was a good day spent with people that I love. And that’s what the day’s about right?

2) FREE Popcorn

Act of Kindness Popcorn for BlogIf you know me personally you probably know how much I love the word free! I also LOVE popcorn. When I was younger Daddy would have to pop three bags for watching a movie and it would be gone in 30 minutes. Although I didn’t know that he had figured out the proper amount of time to cook the microwave popcorn in our microwave…I learned that the hard way at my grandparents house. It was so burned the birds didn’t even eat it! :0 So, needless to say I’ve been banned from ever making microwave popcorn. 🙂

But, when we ran into the bank yesterday they were giving out FREE bags of popcorn as an act of kindness. I really loved the saying on the bag too. I find that it’s really encouraging and inspires me to be better.

3) A Safe Shelter

Last night it rained pretty hard. As Mom and Dad went to pick up Bradley from working at the Fire Station we noticed this furry thing hanging out in porch roof. Upon further investigation we were THOROUGHLY  pleased that it was a bird and not a mouse. (THAT is a blessing in and of itself!). But it reminded us to be thankful for the shelter that we do have. We have a nice house that is much warmer and toastier than our old one. We have wood to burn in a cozy fireplace. Blankets, warm clothes, and hot drinks to keep us warm. In the warmer months we have Air Conditioning to keep it cool in the summer and most times we don’t even need that…we have so many windows that if we just open them on nice day the breeze cools the house just nicely.

I hope that this post encourages you to know that blessings aren’t always the BIG things in life. Yes, there are times that BIG prayers are answered and God comes through in truly miraculous  ways. But I think that just like with Elijah God is often in the “still small voice”. (1 Kings 19:11-13). I wonder if we’re often so busy looking for God in the BIG things that we miss His still small voice…

What are some of the blessings that you have noticed in your life–the small ways that God has come through for you this week? I’d love for you to share them in the comments below! Have a great weekend!

Until next time,

Bailey Sue

  1. How convenient that “random acts of kindness week” always coincides with the week of Valentines Day! But I think it is so much fun to think of random acts of kindness all year long–a coloring book & crayons at the laundromat; a dollar bill tucked inside a children’s library book; a gift card for the trash guys. It doesn’t have to be expensive to touch someone’s heart!
